In only seven years, DominicanaModa has become the most important event of its kind in the Dominican Republic as well as the most important fashion week in the Caribbean and the fastest growing fashion event in the entire Latin American fashion world.
During the six days of shows that constitute the fashion week, DominicanaModa gathers the best labels and designers together in a country that is home to some of the biggest textile factories in the world, used by many prestigious designers.
On top of this, the Dominican Republic boasts one of the ten most important design schools in the world, La Escuela de Diseño de Altos de Chavón, making the country a key player in the world of fashion and design. More than seventy different brands and labels sell and market their pieces during the Dominican Republic Fashion week, offering visitors the opportunity to both purchase wares and invest in the companies exhibiting.
Mirka Morales, the general director of DominicanaModa, affirmed the spirit of social responsibility of the event. Over the past seven years, the event has given over seventy million pesos to more than sixty different charity foundations and NGOs.
It is unique in that it is one of the few fashion shows worldwide to place such a strong emphasis on generating money for good causes.
Now in its eighth year, DominicanaModa is regarded as the leading platform for the fashion industry in the country.
