Dua Lipa has worked with Donatella Versace and co-designed Versace’s latest collection for 2024. Entitled 'La Vacanza', the line was presented in Cannes through a magnificent show attended by the most important stars from the world of music, fashion and beyond.

The show, featuring 42 looks, embodied a vision of a modern, elegant holiday (the English translation of the collection name). Donatella stated: ’We had such a good time designing this collection together. We felt like we were on vacation and that is exactly the spirit we want people to feel when they wear our clothes.'

The singer's long-standing relationship with the famous Italian house and its creative director allowed her to better understand the spirit of Versace, and together with Donatella, they both dug through the archives to discover references that they could use in their creative process.

The main goal was to adapt the Versace legacy, taking a modern approach to the most well-known elements of the brand.” La Vacanza” drew its ispiration from previous Versace collections, mainly from Versace Spring/Summer 1995 collection. So, the prints featuring the iconic butterflies and ladybugs originally featured in this collection have been reimagined and combined with  other iconic elements of the brand: gorgeous colors like the pastel palette, fun prints, metallic crystal mesh mini skirts or sexy bikinis in order to create feminine silhouettes. "It's not just that Dua is very famous – she knows about clothes," agrees Versace. "She's a young woman who wears things in a contemporary way — and that's an important thing for an established [brand] like us to realize." As well-known as she is, "it's important to have an outside voice."

The already known connection of the house with the world of showbiz took shape in this presentation where, in addition to the designers themselves who came out on the runway to close the show, there were also several appearances of stars on the catwalk with supermodels such as Lila Moss and Irina Shayk and Simone Ashley and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as front row guests.

This collection marks the first time ever that the house of Versace has opened up to a collaboration of this kind, and it can certainly be considered a success.
