Numerous top designers—including Burberry, Armani, Versace, Gucci, and many others—have gone fur-free, but Prada has merely pledged to reduce its use of fur, prompting PETA pal Pamela Anderson to send a letter on PETA’s behalf urging Miuccia Prada to commit to leaving all fur out of all future collections.
“A ‘gradual’ reduction is no consolation to animals who are languishing inside tiny cages on fur farms and being anally electrocuted and skinned alive for their fur right now,” writes Anderson. “Please, I urge you to drop fur immediately.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—notes that earlier this month, the Prada Group was the subject of an international social media campaign calling on the company to go fur-free.
