Shanghai Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2026–27 returned from late March to early April 2026 with the theme “Design Ahead, Fashion Ascends,” bringing together 66 brands in a season that highlighted the strength of independent Chinese design.

Among the standout names were 8ON8, Shushu/Tong, and Susan Fang, whose collections reflected the season’s artistic and emotive spirit through modern tailoring, feminine silhouettes, and intricate hand-crafted detail. A major milestone came on April 1, when Maison Margiela staged a landmark show in Shanghai alongside a dedicated exhibition, reinforcing the city’s growing global fashion influence.

This season also explored themes such as “garment memory,” vintage reconstruction, Art Deco references inspired by old Shanghai, and richly tactile textures. Shows took place across key hubs including Xintiandi and Yongyuan Road, with brands such as Ao Yes, Awaylee, and Chenwen Studio contributing to the diverse schedule.

Beyond the runway, Shanghai’s street style brought added energy to the week, with bold and eclectic looks captured by photographers including Yumeng Zheng. Altogether, FW26/27 confirmed Shanghai Fashion Week as a vital platform for creativity, innovation, and the future of fashion.
